Ray Tonjes, the individual. Ray is a family man. Ray met his wife Rosemary while in pilot training in Tampa. She now teaches in Round Rock ISD. Together they have two teenagers: a son Chad, and a daughter Meredith. Tonjes, a Nebraska native and graduate of the University of Nebraska, came to Austin in 1975, when he was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base. After stints as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force and an airline pilot for Braniff, he spent several years selling real estate and building homes with another local builder. Then in 1988, he formed Ray Tonjes Builder Inc.
